EastBoro June ‘26 Hive Update

The bees at Eastboro continue to impress. June is always one of the busiest times of year for the bees, and they're making the most of it. Brood patterns are strong, the queens are laying consistently, and there's a healthy mix of young bees and foragers throughout each hive.

The two honey supers are filling at a good pace, and the colony has plenty of room to keep working without becoming crowded. Varroa mite levels, the biggest threat to honey bee colonies, continue to remain low because of our integrated pest management approach and thanks to some organic pest controls! Starting in July we will assess how much honey can safely be taken from their stores, so keep an eye out for the next update!

During peak summer, a strong hive can have 50,000–60,000 bees working together, each with a specific job that changes as they age.
