CG Farms June ‘26 Hive Update
June was a great month for the hives at Capital Gateway! Both of the colonies are building up nicely and taking full advantage of the strong nectar flow that has continued into June. The queens are laying well, with solid brood patterns and plenty of eggs and larvae, so the populations continue to grow.
The honey supers are filling steadily, and I added extra space to one of the hives to keep ahead of them. The bees were calm to work and are bringing in lots of pollen and nectar! I'm looking forward to seeing how much honey they put away over the next few weeks.
Throughout July, we will be assessing how much honey can safely be taken from their stores, so keep an eye out for the next update!
Fun Fact
A queen bee can lay up to 2,000 eggs in a single day during peak season!
