Carlyle Gateway May Hive Update

From Beekeeper James

The month of May was busy as ever for the two bee hives on the roof of Carlyle Gateway. Over the past month the black locust, tulip poplar and linden trees in Alexandria have all flowered and the bees have taken full advantage of the huge nectar flow! The bees are filling up frame after frame of honey and are now working on capping each with a nice coating of wax. This process ripens and preserves the honey for storage.

did you know?

To produce one pound of honey,a colony collectively flies about 55,000 miles.

That’s more than twice around the Earth!
