Carlyle Gateway June ‘25 Hive Update

The hives on the rooftop of Carlyle Gateway continued their strong growth as the summer heat picked up in June. The northernmost hive has fully filled their honey storage box and the honeybees have capped each cell with wax, meaning it is time to harvest honey! Keep an eye out for the next update to see how much honey was harvested from the hives and how you can get your hands on some.

The southernmost hive has now caught up with the other hive and has been expanded to a second box which the bees have quickly settled into. Right now, worker bees are building out the honeycomb which the queen will use to lay her eggs into!

You may be wondering how your bees have been faring on these hot summer days…

Fun fact, honeybees figured out air conditioning way before humans ever invented it! They do this by collecting water and placing the droplets on the honeycomb which they then fan to evaporate the water. This cool, evaporated air lowers the temperature of the hive, which allows the bees to keep working hard!
