1500 K Street Garden ‘25 Summer Update

Notes from your farmer, Hunter:

The summer harvests are in full swing at the farm at 1500 K Street! The collard greens cannot be stopped, providing huge bundles for each harvest table, and we’ve only just seen the beginning of our jalapeño peppers. Up and coming we can expect tomatoes, sweet peppers, and a whole bunch of cayenne joining the eggplant, kale, chard, parsley, basil, and cucumbers. Our method of fighting pests includes encouraging local populations of predatory insects to eat all that would damage the food, and there’s been no shortage of ladybugs and dragonflies answering the call.

What’s your favorite part about summer in the 1500 K St Garden?

Favorite thing about summer in this garden has to be all the little marigold accents dotted throughout the beds. Lovely to look at, and enticing for all of our pollinators and beneficial insect life.
