Washington Building Garden 2025 Recap
Thanks from your farmer, Cat!
The first year at 1440 NY has been one for the records! From June to October, building tenants were able to enjoy some of the freshest, local produce one could ask for- from our favorite brassicas such as kale and collards, to the sweetest sun kissed carmen peppers, this roof did not disappoint with good eats. This roof was able to brag some of the most bountiful basil plants, and the most prolific cucumber plants one could ask for, with help from the rooftop bees to assist in the regular pollination of all our fruits and veggies! Uniquely situated in the rooftop terrace, tenants were able to get up close and personal with the gardens to watch in real time as the plants grew from tiny, one leaf plugs, to towering bushes as the summer trekked on. Maybe it was the incredible view of the monuments, maybe it was the great talks with tenants on harvest days, but the plants certainly caught the good vibes at the Washington Building this summer and we’re all looking forward to another great growing season in 2026!
