Warm-Weather
Crops Are Here!
The heat-loving favorites are rolling in, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, and basil are all producing great yields at the Harvest Tables this summer. None of it happens without help though: bees and other pollinators have been buzzing from bloom to bloom all season, doing the essential work that makes every harvest possible!

Summer has been rolling along well this season. The weather has been very favorable, with tomatoes, peppers and eggplants thriving. These weeks of Harvest Tables are filling up with the first big batch of ripe tomatoes and peppers (sweet and spicy), along with the ever-bountiful cucumbers. The sunflowers are continuing to create a sunny border around the garden filled with bees and other pollinators. The big heads full of sunflower seeds will be left for the birds to have something to snack on - there have been some resident goldfinches of late. I also found a cute little potter wasp in the tomatoes. They are a docile, solitary, and beneficial wasp that make adorable little vase-shaped nests out of mud. Overall it’s been a great first half of the season with lots of wonderful growth and I am looking forward to the second half of it.
What’s your favorite part about summer in this garden?
My favorite thing about summer in this garden is all of the different flowers that continue to pop up each month and seeing all of the insects that are excited about them.
