The heat-loving favorites are rolling in, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, and basil are all producing great yields at the Harvest Tables this summer. None of it happens without help though: bees and other pollinators have been buzzing from bloom to bloom all season, doing the essential work that makes every harvest possible!

Our favorite pick-your-own garden is back and better than ever! Ushering in the summer season with a sizeable expansion, there’s now more to choose from when you’re taking a 15 min screen break. Sidling up to a native prairie under the crepe myrtles are easy to reach rows of eggplant, sweet peppers, hot peppers (a few varieties!) and ever producing tomatoes. The classic brassicas like kale and collards are in their familiar place of last year, with flowers just beginning to go into bloom. Head upstairs with a bag and grab yourself some herbs, fruits, and greens to take home before you close up for the day!

What’s your favorite part about summer in this garden?

The shishito peppers are the highlight for me, hope building tenants are picking and enjoying them!

Most vegetables we eat aren't technically vegetables at all. Cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, and tomatoes are all botanically fruits, since they develop from a flower and contain seeds. "Vegetable" is really more of a culinary term than a scientific one, which is why the line between fruit and vegetable gets blurry so often at the harvest table.
