1500 K July Hive Update

The bees at 1500 K have continued to work in the mid-summer heat! Over the last few weeks, I inspected the colony and performed their scheduled organic pest management routine to help keep their biggest threat, the varroa mite at low levels. On a more exciting note, we harvested around 60 pounds of honey from your hive! Over the next couple of weeks the honey will be processed and bottled and will be delivered to the Property Management office for distribution! So keep an eye out for how you can get your hands on some.

Because of the high summer temperatures, I provided some additional equipment to help the hive stay cool and improve airflow. The bees have remained busy and active, which is a good sign. I'll continue keeping an eye on food stores, pest levels, and overall colony strength as we move toward the end of summer.

Fun Fact

Bees don't have air conditioning, but they essentially make their own! They can collect water and spread it around the hive, then fan their wings to create evaporative cooling.

Honey Update!

The time has come for the honey to be harvested at the 1500 K hive! The worker bees have filled the frames and our team will be getting the honey processed and jarred for you soon!
