The Farm at Halley Rise‘25 Summer Update

Notes from your farmer, Amanda:

As many of the spring blooms at Haley Rise are being cut back to encourage strong regrowth for the fall, summer crops are stepping into the spotlight. Peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes are thriving in the heat, filling the beds with vibrant color and harvests. Meanwhile, our globe amaranth, giant marigolds, and plume cockscomb continue to put on a show under the apple trees, and the basil and second crop of cucumbers are going strong. Mint is bouncing back beautifully after a mid-season cut to encourage softer, tastier growth and even our figs are coloring to their ripe purple. It’s a lush, colorful moment, full of transitions as we begin looking towards fall.

What’s your favorite thing about summer in The Farm at Halley Rise?

My favorite thing about the Haley Rise garden is all the little surprises it offers—finding a perfectly ripe fig, a hidden cluster of grapes, or an unexpected burst of midseason raspberries. And because of our bee boxes, I get to start the day with a team of tiny colleagues working alongside me.
