Crops Are Here!
The heat-loving favorites are rolling in, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, and basil are all producing great yields at the Harvest Tables this summer. None of it happens without help though: bees and other pollinators have been buzzing from bloom to bloom all season, doing the essential work that makes every harvest possible!

Summer was a delight at the Centennial Center garden! The heat brought with it ample pepper, cucumber, and eggplant harvests, and the greens, although preferring colder temperatures have chugged along in these months. Thanks to our expanded garden area this year, the cucumbers have made their appearance on the bi-weekly Harvest Tables!
What’s your favorite part about summer in this garden?
The garden at Centennial Center is one of only a few in the Up Top Acres portfolio where crops take center stage as landscaping. The deep reds and purples of peppers and eggplant are complimented by the whole spectrum of colors of the chard to bring forth the natural beauty of agriculture.

Carmen peppers are an Italian heirloom-style sweet pepper, prized for their long, tapered shape and a flavor that's sweeter than a bell pepper, especially once they ripen from green to a deep red. They're also one of the earlier peppers to mature in the summer, so they tend to be one of the first pepper varieties showing up at the harvest tables.
